The African Film Festival

Something really big is brewing in the background, something groundbreaking, the first of its kind.

The African Film Festival (TAFF) will launch in July of 2016, a platform created for African film practitioners by Kelechi Eke, a filmmaker and CEO of BiGObi productions in Dallas, Texas. This platform is born out of a dire need to give African films and its creators a world stage and the recognition they deserve. Are you a filmmaker? Have you made an African film? Then this festival is for you.

Omotola wants you to meet her today.

Planning on going to the movies today?

Sure you are. It's Saturday. It's also the countdown to the movie premiere Blood in the Lagoon at AMC Loews Fountains 18.

There're so many choices when it comes to things-to-do here in Houston. You've always made the choice to support something worthwhile. Well, this movie is one of them. Instead of traditional blockbuster cinema, why don't we support our own and actually learn something?

Children of the Diaspora, it behooves you to continue in awareness of what's going on with us home and abroad. Put our thinking caps on and come together and be the face of a new generation, one that encourages positive, better life for generations to come.

Pound of Flesh: the premiere.

Folks of Street Corner films have done it again, delivering another hillarous suspence thriller Pound of Flesh, the brainchild of duo Don Okolo and Nkem Denchukwu, a bridge between genres of Hollywood and Nollywood.  Movie lovers came out in drones to support it's premiere and the movie didn't dissapoint. You'd laugh very hard, you'd cry, you'd be dumb founded - combination I enjoy in movies. This dynamic duo is making Nollywood movies the way they ought to be made, well developed plot and story line, witty lines, impeacable comedic timing, enough suspence, great motion picture; this easily fits the bill as a high budget indie flick.

Shooting a movie premiere.

Gem of the Rainforest costars Kae Shakir and Perez Egbi
The perks for a photographer like me (besides the photographing) would be visiting different places, meeting new people and becoming an integral part of the event.  I had the priviledge of photographing a Nollywood movie premiere—Gem of the Rainforest, starring Ramsey Nouah.  This crossover Nollywood movie is directed by Don Okolo (Material Witness, Blood and Destiny) and produced by Nkem DenChukwu—Author - Tribal Echoes.
